The Wavertree Charitable Trust was established to take over and develop the educational
activities previously managed by The National Stud. This high class tailored
training
is unique in the United Kingdom and is provided free
of charge to the Thoroughbred breeding industry. However its future relies on voluntary donations
from individuals, grant making bodies and companies. The Trust also aims to educate the general
public about horse husbandry, and in particular the breeding of horses, via daily
tours of The
National Stud and the running of
owner breeders clubs.
The objectives of the Wavertree Charitable Trust are:
- To advance the training of persons, especially the young, to prepare them for trades and occupations in the equine racing and breeding industries
- To advance education though the provision of public access to the Stud in the form of tours and access to the education centre
- To promote and encourage research into the breeding, use and management of Thoroughbred and non Thoroughbred horses
- Any other charitable purpose beneficial to the community as the Trustees shall determine
